Ellie and George’s Sentimental Summer Wedding

For Ellie and George Butler, a “random” lockdown decision led to a lifetime of love. On Tuesday, 19th August 2025, the couple celebrated their marriage at the stunning Manor Hill House, bringing a significant slice of the Cornish coast to the Worcestershire countryside.

A Love Tested (and Proven) in Cornwall

Ellie and George’s story began online in 2021 during the tail end of lockdown. After just a few months of talking, they took a leap of faith: a five-night trip to Cornwall to see if they could survive five days in each other’s company. Not only did they survive, but they thrived.

Two years later, while Ellie was heavily pregnant with their daughter, George took her back to that very first holiday spot. On the end of the pier in Porthleven, he asked her to be his wife.

The Fashion: Meant to Be

Ellie’s journey to her dress was a “fate” moment. Having visited Gina Lou Bridal twice before to help friends find their gowns, she returned for her own and found the “Bergamot” by White One Bridal. It was off-the-peg, in her size, and in the sale. She bought it before they had even booked a venue! To make it even more special, her cousin (a talented seamstress) handled the alterations as a generous wedding gift.

The Wedding Party Look:

  • The Groom & Groomsmen: The men wore navy-blue tweed suits from Moss Bros, accented with sky-blue ties and brown boots for a relaxed, rustic-chic vibe.

  • The Bridesmaids: They looked elegant in sky-blue multiway dresses from Victoria Lou Bridal, featuring a delicate tulle overlay.

  • Personal Touches: Ellie wore a custom charm bracelet made by a family friend, featuring genuine sea glass she and George had collected from their favourite Cornish beach.

A “Cornish” Celebration at Manor Hill House

The couple chose Manor Hill House for its “all-in-one” convenience and effortless style. “We particularly liked the snug where guests could take themselves off for a quiet cup of tea,” Ellie noted.

The theme was a beautiful homage to their engagement spot. The palette of dusty blue, ivory, and navy was complemented by:

  • Table names inspired by their favorite Cornish locations.

  • Authentic shells hand-picked by the couple.

  • Cornish Rattler Cider served as reception drinks to get the party started.

  • A unique centerpiece: Ellie’s dad’s Clio Sport, dressed up to match the wedding colours!

Music with Meaning

Music played a pivotal role in the day, with choices that spanned generations:

  • The Aisle: A string quartet version of Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight.”

  • The Recessional: “Walk of Life” by Dire Straits—the first song their daughter ever danced to as a baby.

  • The Reception Entrance: In a moving tribute to George’s late Grandfather, the couple entered to “Rockin’ All Over the World” by Status Quo. It was a tear-jerker for the family and a beautiful way to keep his memory alive.

A Feast for Foodies

Moving away from the traditional three-course meal, the “proper foodies” opted for a Greek BBQ buffet. Guests raved over marinated chicken, lamb koftas, flatbreads, and Greek salads, followed by a decadent choice of Eton Mess or brownies. The evening was fueled by a classic hog roast, prepared by the venue’s expert chef.

Reflecting on Perfection

When the dancing ended and the photobooth props were packed away, Ellie and George shared a quiet moment of reflection in the venue’s huge bath. “Seeing everybody we loved in one room was definitely a highlight,” says Ellie. “Everything was perfect, and there wasn’t anything we would’ve done differently.”
